Meet Bonnie
Bonnie is a bilingual Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in the state of Illinois.
Born in Korea and rooted in North America, she has also lived and worked overseas during her formative professional years. These crosscultural experiences have given her a deep sense of appreciation for both differences and the shared human experiences. This perspective deeply informs her therapeutic relationships, helping clients feel seen, heard, supported, and empowered wherever they are in their walk of life.
Bonnie is passionate about helping her clients blossom into the fullness of who they are meant to be. She sees each person as God’s beautiful creation; wholesome and precious yet carrying some wounds and brokenness as all humans do. Her clients often notice her natural gift of attunement early on, and they appreciate her gentle presence as she walks alongside them in their healing journey.
Bonnie believes all human beings are shaped by their past, good and bad, yet their past doesn’t determine who they will become. With a culturally attuned, spiritually sensitive, and client-centered approach, her clients find their journey truly inspiring and transforming as she creates a safe and supportive space for them to explore their stories, reconnect with their true selves and to be empowered to write their authentic and beautiful stories of their own.
She provides individual, couple, and group counseling. She especially enjoys working with young adults and older adults as they navigate major life transitions.
Her areas of specialty includes:
- Emotional Agility (navigating everyday emotions such as sadness, anger, and joy)
- Mood Disorders (including depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder)
- Relationship Issues (premarital, couples, family, dating, and friendships)
- Personal Healing (providing care for OCD, ADHD, trauma (both big and small), and unresolved emotional wounds from the past)
- Life Challenges (grief, shame, stress, transitions, self worth, conflict resolution, and family of origin issues, particularly for those experiencing cultural and generational tensions within family relationships)
Bonnie’s therapeutic style is gentle, warm, and grounded, yet bold when needed. She integrates clinical expertise with spiritual vitality to help her clients move toward a brighter tomorrow because she truly believes that healing is possible. So do not let your fear hold you back. Just reach out and she will be right there to journey with you!
