Dear Pastor Friend, I See You

Dear pastor friend,
I see you.
I know you.
I have been you.

You carry the weight of souls, sermons, strategy, and staff. You walk into rooms where people expect wisdom, peace, and presence, even when you’re running on empty. You’re the one everyone comes to for prayer, but when was the last time someone prayed for you?

Burnout doesn’t announce itself with a loud crash. It’s more like a slow leak. A missed meal here, a late night there. Forgetting an anniversary, or skipping a family moment because “ministry can’t wait.” You tell yourself it’s just a busy season. But somehow, that season never ends (oh boy, do I know).

But you’re not alone.
According to Barna Group, 42% of Protestant senior pastors have seriously considered quitting full-time ministry in the past year. Among them, 56% cite the immense stress of the job, 43% feel lonely and isolated, and 38% are worn down by political division in their congregations.

The numbers paint a sobering picture, but they also tell a profoundly human story.
We’re shepherds who often forget that shepherds, too, need rest.

And the cost shows up at home.
Lifeway Research found that 31% of pastors say ministry demands keep them from spending enough time with their families, and 16% believe their family resents those demands. On top of that, 67% of pastors feel they must be on call around the clock, a recipe for exhaustion if ever there was one.

We tell ourselves that what we need is balance or margin. But here’s the truth: there’s no such thing as perfect balance. Life doesn’t stay still long enough for that.

Instead, we can create a healthy blend, a rhythm that makes room for both your calling and your humanity.

At Mosaic Wholeness Center, that’s where we begin.
Through our Executive and Leadership Coaching, we walk alongside pastors and ministry leaders to help them:

  • Name what’s really going on beneath the surface—not just manage symptoms.
  • Redefine success in ways that align with both calling and family.
  • Build emotional resilience, not just better time management.
  • Develop sustainable rhythms that nurture your soul, your marriage, and your ministry.

You don’t need another productivity hack.
You need space, space to breathe, to feel, to remember why you said yes to ministry in the first place.

Burnout is real; 22% of current pastors say it’s one of the top three reasons a former pastor left their role. But here’s the good news: only about 1.2% of pastors leave ministry each year for reasons other than retirement. That means there’s still hope; renewal is possible.

At Mosaic, we believe wholeness is not just the absence of stress but the integration of calling and care. We help pastors lead from a place of strength through Christ-centered care, cultural sensitivity, and clinical excellence.

You’ve poured into so many others. Maybe it’s time to let someone pour into you.

If this resonates, we’d love to walk with you.
