Jesus Rivera, MA, LPC
Jesus Rivera is a licensed professional counselor at Mosaic Wholeness Center in Rolling Meadows, Illinois, offering culturally grounded, faith-sensitive therapy for individuals navigating anxiety, addiction, gambling concerns, and the weight of life transitions, especially for those who have never quite felt seen in a therapist’s office before.
Who He Helps
Some people come to therapy having already tried it and walked away feeling like the counselor never quite got them. Their cultural background felt like a footnote. Their faith felt like something to apologize for. Their struggles felt too specific, too complicated, or too outside the mainstream to be taken seriously. Jesus works with exactly those people.
He specializes in working with:
- Individuals struggling with problematic gambling and gambling-related stress
- People in addiction recovery or navigating substance use concerns
- Latino and multicultural clients seeking a culturally responsive space
- Individuals dealing with anxiety, chronic stress, and emotional dysregulation
- Adults navigating major life transitions and identity questions
- People who want their faith integrated into the therapeutic process, not set aside
How He Works
Jesus takes a person-centered, strengths-based approach, drawing on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients build practical skills alongside deeper self-understanding. He meets clients where they are, moves at their pace, and brings genuine warmth and cultural humility into every session. For clients who want it, he integrates a faith-informed perspective rooted in the belief that every person is made in the image of God and carries real capacity for healing and change.
Why This Work
Before becoming a therapist, Jesus spent 18 years as a para-educator, sitting with students who needed more than instruction. They needed someone to stay, to be patient, to not give up on them. That experience taught him something no graduate program could: that the most powerful thing a helper can offer is a steady, unhurried presence that communicates, without words, that you are worth showing up for. He carries that into every session. As a 2.5-generation Puerto Rican, he also knows what it means to hold two worlds at once, and he brings that understanding to clients navigating their own questions about culture, belonging, and identity.

A Little More About Jesus
Outside of sessions, Jesus is a reader, a film watcher, a music lover, and someone who genuinely enjoys a good conversation about ideas. He attends live performances, participates in community events, and finds restoration in the kind of storytelling, whether in books, films, or music, that helps people feel less alone. He lives in Waukegan, Illinois.
