Wesley Liou, MA
Wesley is a bilingual master ’s-level counselor at Mosaic Wholeness Center in Rolling Meadows, Illinois, providing counseling services in English and Mandarin for individuals, couples, and families navigating anxiety, burnout, identity, and the particular complexities of building a life between two cultures.
Who He Helps
Wesley understands firsthand what it means to carry more than one world inside you: different languages, different expectations, different versions of who you are supposed to be depending on who is in the room. That understanding shapes everything about the way he works.
He specializes in working with:
- Immigrants and children of immigrant families navigating acculturation, identity formation, and belonging
- Mandarin-speaking clients seeking a culturally attuned therapeutic space
- Individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, burnout, and work-life stress
- Adolescents and young adults working through identity development and spiritual questions
- Clients navigating grief, church hurt, and faith transitions
- Couples and families facing relational and generational tensions
- Professionals managing career stress and major life transitions
How He Works
Wesley draws from person-centered therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and strengths-based approaches, weaving them together in a way that fits each person rather than the other way around. He describes the experience of therapy as something like feeling the light of a spring sun after a long winter: sometimes it points forward with hope, sometimes it illuminates the paths already walked, and sometimes it shines inward to bring personal insight and awareness, but always with gentleness and warmth. For clients who want it, he is open to integrating faith and spiritual perspectives into the work. For those from other backgrounds or none at all, he brings the same care and welcome.
Why This Work
Before becoming a therapist, Wesley spent nearly a decade in the accounting field after earning his degree in Accountancy from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. That career gave him a deep familiarity with the kind of professional pressure, identity drift, and quiet burnout that high-achieving people rarely name out loud until something breaks. He also spent years working with and leading youth at his local church, walking alongside adolescents through some of the most formative and disorienting years of their lives. As a 1.5-generation immigrant from Taiwan, he carries all of that with him into the therapy room, and it shows.

A Little More About Wesley
Outside of sessions, Wesley is an avid foodie who believes, as Anthony Bourdain did, that a shared meal is one of the best ways to start understanding another person. He is a proud cat owner, a self-described motor enthusiast, and is currently training for his first half-marathon. He brings all of that curiosity and love for life into the room with him.
